The Secret of Movie Trailers
This is a video tutorial using Filmora on how to create a video that has all the elements of a movie trailer.
Movie trailers themselves are a pretty specific form of video but are quite valuable as a study because of a few points they all have in common.
To be effective they have to really hold attention well, impart enough information very quickly and ultimately create a strong emotional response in the audience.
The response they are going for comes right out of the marketing playbook which is desire.
In this case it is a strong desire to go watch that movie!
The first thing to consider regarding this tutorial is that none of us are probably going to be making a movie trailer!
However movie trailers have a certain number of key elements to them and those elements each serve a particular purpose towards that ultimate creation of desire.
So in checking out the video don’t look at it from the point of view of how to make a movie trailer… unless of course you are going to!
Instead look at the concepts being shown and think about how or if you may want to incorporate them into your own projects.
How To Make A Playlist On YouTube In 2024 & Get More Views
This is a tutorial for creating playlists on a YouTube Channel which from the outside looks like it might be good for making your content easier to access for your audience.
That may be true but playlists are a whole lot more than that and a strategy that hasn’t really been promoted so much recently which is unfortunate.
The real reason playlists are important goes back to the fact that YouTube is a Google owned property.
Google itself is based on an understanding of websites and web pages and the algorithm it uses heavily influences how the YouTube algorithm is designed and operates.
So the theory on playlists is that any YouTube channel is actually viewed by the algorithm as a website with a similar structure.
A website usually has a front page, categories and pages under those categories.
This structure allows Google to understand both the individual pages and the entire site as an entire entity.
For YouTube the font page is the channel page, the categories are the playlists and the individual pages are the individual videos under the playlists.
Creating a playlist structure is by no means a guarantee for success on YouTube but is one of those things that you can easily do to increase your chances.
Which Videos Really Get Views on YouTube? An Inconvenient Truth
OK so before you get into the video below it is important to understand a KEY concept that Alex lays out at the beginning of the video.
The tricks and techniques he shows are successful BUT!
It is vitally important that if you decide to apply these techniques you do it in an ethical manner.
And that’s all I got to say about that!
Using Speech to Text and Text to Speech with Subtitles
This is another in a recent series on the subject of the Subtitling module of CyberLink PowerDirector.
In this video we go over the text to speech module and how it can be used to generate a narration track with subtitles.
Conversely there is also a speech to text module that takes the entire process the other way.
All 8+ Movavi Software in 9 Minutes
In reality the Movavi Video Editor or at least the Editing Suite version has been under intense development over the past three or four years.
I have been watching it as a video editing solution of beginners for longer than that until about two years ago when I added it to this site as one of my recommendations for a simple or easy to learn video editor.
In the past two years they have really put some work into the software so that right now it stands as a very attractive alternative to brands like Filmora or PowerDirector from CyberLink.
Check out the video below for a good overview of where this very good video editing solution stands today.
Filmora 13.5.5 New Features: Voice Clone, Corner Pin and More. Upgrade or NOT?
I have already done a brief rundown of the new features that were released in Filmora 13.5.5 and I think that was one or two weeks ago.
This week Jacky came out with a new video specifically covering a few of those new features and showing them in action.
Filmora are always pretty big on new stuff and especially the A.I. additions but as always the question is whether or not they are actually useful.
Put Yourself in a Picture Frame – DaVinci Resolve
This is just a quicky from Daniel Batal for placing a video inside a picture frame although it can be an image or any other asset as well.
The technique involves going into the Fusion page and consists of a few steps.
If you are using a more consumer level editor you may find this to be a bit convoluted for just adding a video to a still image frame… and you would be right!
Most editing software lower on the food chain is going to do this pretty much as a standard drag and drop procedure.
Just bear in mind that Resolve is designed for pro’s and has to scale up to highly complex editing and post production workflows so sometimes it’s not always so simple!
Make Animated Infographics in DaVinci Resolve – Fusion Shapes Tutorial
This is another in a long (and getting longer!) line of tutorials from Casey Faris using the DaVinci Resolve Fusion Page.
Like many others this is a watch along video where you can download all the resources being used and do it yourself.
The beauty of tutorials like this one is this.
Even if you are not really interested in recreating Casey’s very nice coffee video… which you are probably not, you get to walk though the various tools and settings to learn them for yourself.
How to Color Calibrate Your Monitor Like a Pro
One problem I have been running into recently is the difference in color display between my monitor and the client’s.
The most problematic of these is my wife!
She’s is the office next door to me and almost invariably these days I will edit and color correct a video of hers then send it to her for the final touches.
She generally adds text and a few graphic elements for a final polish.
The problem is every time I send a video I get into this argument about how the colors look!
I use DaVinci for that purpose so I know that the values are all correct and to be honest it always looks great to me!
However on her computer… there are complaints!
Finally this week I had a moment of clarity and realized I have never actually calibrated her new monitor!
Lo and behold it was way off hence the disparity.
This is well worth the time to do even if the results are only for domestic peace.
