Advice for new YouTube Channels

How to Get Views on a Zero YouTube Channel

I wanted to include a couple of YouTube specific video tutorials this week as we are still at the beginning of 2024.

Getting started on YouTube is not too hard these days and there are a ton of videos online explaining how to do that.

However just because your channel is up and you have uploaded some videos you are by no means “set for success!”

When you have almost no subscribers and practically no views it’s all a bit like pushing a car on the road when you have run out of gas.

That initial push is the really hard part and once you get going things tend to get easier (not easy!) from there on out.

Most tutorials for YouTube tend to focus on people who have at least some subscribers and are getting some views.

In the video below they take it down a notch to undercut even that stage and show you what you should be doing.

YouTube Hacks For Explosive Growth

In keeping with the previous item on dealing with a start up YouTube Channel I thought this following video makes for a great back up of those ideas.

More often than not you see what could be described as explosive YouTube creators who seem to have come out of nowhere.

They are promoted as success stories (and they are) but what is not promoted is the fact that they are the exception and not the rule.

In fact they are well into the minority of successful YouTubers.

For the most part success on YouTube is a marathon, not a sprint.

5 Powerful Editing Features – Corel VideoStudio 2023

VideoStudio tends to get a little overlooked when it comes to consumer level video editing software and I think that’s a bit of a shame.

VideoStudio was my first editing program and I still use it to this day.

It is packed with features and has one of the easiest interfaces to learn around today.

Here are some tips for working inside Corel VideoStudio.

3 Ultimate Tips with Compound Clips in Filmora! – Wondershare Filmora 13

One of the more recent additions to the already considerable capabilities of Filmora is the ability to create compound clips.

Compound Clips is a feature you will find in high end pro video editing software that has two main purposes.

The first is to combine a series of clips together including any applied effects and rendering them to a new clip which then replaces the originals on the timeline.

This takes an enormous amount of stress off the computer resulting in a smoother editing experience.

The second use of Compound Clips is that once the clips selected have been “compounded” into one, effects or changes can be applied to all of them in one action.

This of course saves time.

So in the video below you can see Compound Clips in action in Filmora plus a few examples of when you can use them.

Quickly Customize Templates in Filmora

Filmora like many other video editing software programs at the consumer level comes with a whole bunch of different templates.

Essentially templates tend to be a preset and pre-designed start, middle and finish of a project.

Using them you can load the template then just add your own assets such as video, text, images etc. then you have a ready made video!

The beauty of templates is that they take over a lot of the repetitive tasks of producing a video and the final result gives you a consistent “look.”

What many people may not be aware of is that although these templates are presented as presets they can actually be edited and saved as your own templates to suit your needs.

Check it out in the video below.

How to Display Photograph Data on the Screen – PowerDirector

Well dang! I have been using PowerDirector for about 12 years now and only just found out about this today!

Why didn’t anyone tell me?

I am not sure I would actually have any great use for it but good to know anyway!

Best Video Editing Apps For Android – 2024 Review

Let me be perfectly clear from the outset on this following video.

I do not edit videos on a mobile device and probably never will but then again saying “never” is a big call!

Whilst I can’t argue with the convenience I can safely say I can’t get past the overall “smallness” of the entire experience.

I needs me some serious monitor real estate so I see what’s going on!

For that reason I am ill equipped to comment on one app over another so here’s something from the Primal Video guys that is way more qualified.

Fusion Nodes Explained With Toast – DaVinci Resolve Fusion Guide for Beginners

One of the major barriers to actually getting into the fusion Page of DaVinci Resolve is that it doesn’t really look or behave like any other part of a video editor.

The reason for this design feature is that the Fusion Page is dedicated to effects and compositing so the linear nature of video editing is not really an important aspect.

As part of the fusion setup you work with what they call nodes and let’s face it, nodes do not really seem to be all that intuitive.

The thing is that once you actually wrap your head around the concept it all starts to make sense.

So in light of that here’s a video from Casey Faris explaining the whole nodes concept using toast!
