Movavi Video Editor 2023
This is an updated recap of the Movavi Video Editor as it currently stands.
Over the past year or so this very effective editing program has continued with its development in an intelligent and effective way.
It is still a great editor to learn to use and that ease of use has not been compromised or complicated by the added features and capability.
One of the best bang for your buck editors on the market today.
Green Screen Tricks Vol. 3 – Wondershare Filmora
This is number three in the series from Filmora on using green screen.
This is not so much a “How to” for using green screen because I think these days most people are well aware of how to do it although in the first tip they do mention the screen lighting itself.
The real secret to good quality green screen lies in the shooting and not in the application of the effect.
If you have a good, consistent green background the rest is easy.
What I think is most valuable about this video are the little touches and tweaks he shows that can allow you to really “sell” the effect.
Filmora 12 How to Normalize and Synchronize Audio
Just a couple of quick audio tips from Jacky this week using Filmora.
To be honest Filmora is not the crunchiest cookie in the bag when it comes to audio and the amount of control you have.
It is perfectly OK for most tasks but if you need something more complicated then that’s probably a little outside what it is designed for.
It does have a reasonably good Normalization feature to get your levels balanced as well as an equally effective auto-synchronization tool for lining up audio from different sources.
Master Your Audio – DaVinci Resolve Training
There are a lot of really helpful tutorials kicking around on the subject of getting your audio up to standard especially for YouTube videos.
Most of the time these kinds of tutorials cover subjects such as cleaning up your voice track or enhancing it in some way.
Usually it’s just making sure the dialogue can be heard over the music etc. and that’s about it.
In reality one of the key factors in whether or not a video LOOKS professional has nothing to do with how it looks!
In fact that professional feeling you or your audience is experiencing is coming from the audio.
There is an art to having music to set the mood, dialogue to explain the story and the hidden factor of environmental noise to really set the scene.
Check out the video below from Daniel Batal on working with audio to really provide a solid base for your visuals.
Sound Design 101 – Essential for Video Creators! – PowerDirector
Following on from the last entry using DaVinci here’s another on the subject of sound design.
This one comes from the folks at CyberLink so obviously it uses PowerDirector to demonstrate.
How To Make A YouTube End Screen Template (UPDATED!)
When it comes to YouTube the hidden factor that most people are unaware of when they start is that one of the keys to success is regular content creation.
Even when people know this they still underestimate just what that is going to entail.
In last week’s Friday Roundup there was an article on this exact point.
It doesn’t take very long for you to find yourself stuck on this treadmill of either planning your next video, producing it, uploading then the pattern repeats over and over.
One way to avoid burnout is to keep things simple is by creating reusable assets that you can just slap on to your finished project with no fuss.
In the video below you can see how to create an End Screen template for that purpose.
3 Shots That Instantly Make Better Action Videos – GoPro Tips
There is nothing particularly groundbreaking in this video as far as the basic concepts go.
It’s all the usual because the usual always works!
However I think it is worth looking at if you are creating specifically action cam type footage because it is those basics applied to that exact situation with great examples.
How Filmmakers Make Cameras Disappear – Mirrors in Movies
Have you ever been in a situation where you are shooting something in front of a mirror and realized that you are going to be in shot as well because… well.. it’s a mirror!
Ever wondered why that doesn’t happen in the movies? Well here’s your answer!
