In the years I have been following Aidin Robbins on his journey to becoming quite a skilled video maker it has been interesting to watch his journey.
Over time he has moved away from shooting pretty straight up “How to” videos to making mostly his own work.
His tutorial videos are few and far between these days although when he does one it tends to be an extreme deep dive!
The video below is no different where he covers in enormous detail his process for creating dark, moody videos.
I don’t really expect most of my readers to be operating at this level on all the aspects of the process he mentions.

New Filmora Influence Kits
Never mind the catchy title, these “Influence Kits” are actually sets of pre-made fully customizable intro sequences you can use in your projects.
One of the easiest ways of cutting down your production time is to create intros and outros that you can use over and over.
I do this with most of my projects depending on who I am doing for and it means I can cut the new footage to how I like then simply insert the intro at the front of the timeline and the outro at the back an I am done.

Whilst LUTs can be a great way of applying an overall feel to your video projects they are not as simple as a quick set and forget.
In order to use them effectively you need to first color correct accurately then apply the right LUT.
On top of that you may then need to go back into the correction stage to adjust or even adjust the LUT itself to get a great result.
In the end the results can be worth it but the reality is that unless you are very familiar with the process, you can get lost pretty easily!

DaVinci Resolve 19 All New Features
So Resolve 19 just dropped this week in Beta form with a bunch of new features in both the free and Studio (Paid) versions.
I have been too busy to go through it all myself but here’s some one who has!

This week DaVinci released version 19 into the wild and as is usual with them they call this a “beta” version.
With most software that means it is not fully baked and only good for advanced users with similarly advanced computer skills.
Not so with the guys from DaVinci, they tend to call every version a “beta” version!
It is quite possible they have commitment issues.
Anyway in light of that Casey Faris has released a newly updated beginners walkthrough of the program all the way from soup to nuts.
