A lot of people tend to search for tips or tutorials on that “big thing” or that one magic technique that is going to give a final professional polish to their videos.
The truth is that if you look carefully at videos that have that professional polish there is no “one big thing” making them look that way.
Those kinds of results really come from many little things used intelligently to enhance whatever video project they are applied to.
You can see a whole bunch of them in the video below but it is important to take note of one particular thing.
None of things being demonstrated are in any way super technical or crazy advanced!
All of them can be pulled off inside just an average video editing program with basic features.
The trick is in the way they are done.
Occasionally you may find when working with audio files in Audacity that it cannot read that particular format and you get the warning you see in the title of this entry.
That’s because Audacity knows it could hanlde the file of it had FFmpeg installed.
FFmpeg does not install automatically when you first install Audacity so you have to install it manually.
In the video below you can see how to do that quite simply from within Audacity itself so you can carry on with your work.
CyberLink have recently updated parts of the user interface in PowerDirector to make things a little easier to get to.
Truth is that PowerDirector is an incredibly feature rich piece of video editing software and providing access to all features without cluttering the interface is pretty hard.
On top of that they are also following the trend of introducing A.I. driven features and in the video below you can see some of the audio ones in action.
Here are a couple videos from PowerDirector University on how to handle fades in PowerDirector.
The first deals with fades in and out of black and the second covers audio fades.
This is a good demonstration of some pretty easy ways to improve the quality of your videos using standard techniques as well as newer A.I. features that are becoming more broadly available.
The one that interests me the most is the A.I. driven Upscaling which has been something a lot of people have been looking forward to.
This module in Movavi is one of the best around at the consumer level and although there are others that are way more expensive the Movavi one does a great job.
Nothing particularly groundbreaking here but a set of very good examples of using audio effects to enhance any project.
I cannot recommend highly enough a basic lesson I was taught by an instructor some time ago.
The exercise is to create a short video sequence. It can be anything.
Then start playing around with music and audio effects all the while taking note of how the addition of different effects changes the tone of the project.
As Jacky mentions in the video from him below, the stabilization feature in Filmora is not exactly brilliant but can adequately handle minor problems quite well.
At this level of the market most stabilization features are not really all that good.
This is because they are very specialized, need to cater to an incredibly wide range of scenarios and cost a lot to develop.
You can see the Filmora version in the video below and if your needs are modest it work fine.
If you have recently switched to DaVinci Resolve… or not so recently, you will fully understand that it comes with features up the wazoo even in the free version!
The downside of that is that the interface is just packed with stuff and even though I use it very often… I have no idea what most of it does!
Well that not entirely true. I know what most of it does… I just don’t know how to make it do it… yet!
Daniel Batal has recently made the switch and has been posting a few videos on using Resolve especially from a complete newbie point of view.
This week he went live on YouTube to host another “basics” demo on DaVinci Resolve and in this one he concentrates entirely on the Fairlight module.
This is the module that deals with audio and is incredibly powerful once to can get to find your way around.
