Tips For Making Any Audio Recording Sound Better for Free
This is a quick demo of the Studio Sound feature that comes with access to the Descript video editor and transcription software.
Just quickly Descript is a relatively new service that runs online but through a desktop application.
You can use it to load videos, have the software transcribe the video and edit based on the transcript rather than the images on a timeline like conventional editors.
So instead of cutting out a scene, you cut out the words and the scene gets cut too!
There is a lot of A.I. stuff going on in the background and it can do some pretty wild things.
For example let’s say you misspoke a sentence.
You can type in the words you were supposed to say and the software will not only now “say” the words for you, it will sound exactly as if you said it!
The main thing I use it for is the Studio Sound feature which as I said before you can see demonstrated in the video below.
I use it all the time to almost instantly clean up audio for my projects.

Had to Figure Out This Kevin Parry Editing Magic
It is always interesting to me to see exactly how something is done and what it takes to set up and execute an effect like this.
Of course as usual it turns out 80% of the work is in the shooting, not the editing… no surprises there!
Smartphone vs DSLR – is it Worth it Now?
I have a couple of clients that use phones for their videos and a few that use DSLRs and this is a question that has recently begun to come up more and more.
In the video below you can get a good overview of the two systems for capturing video footage with the pro’s and con’s of each listed.
Beginners Guide to Animate Text in VideoStudio 2022
A new video this week from Gripps on how to animate text in VideoStudio 2022.
To say that VideoStudio has a bunch of settings to play with in the titling module would be a bit of an understatement!
To put it all into perspective this video is about 15mins. long and ONLY covers the basics of adding motion to text.
Disappearing Tattoo Effect – Wondershare Filmora Tutorial
This is a good exercise in shooting for the edit and using masking effectively to create a convincing effect.
It also shows that although Filmora may not have super advanced masking tools, by just using the basic shapes on offer you can pull of some great tricks.
Stranger Things Effect – PowerDirector
Dang! Everyone is doing the Stranger Things effects tutorials at the moment… almost makes me want to watch the actual program!
Anyway, this one seems like a pretty cool effect regardless.
PowerDirector – Creating an Animated GIF or Image Sequence
Most editing software offers the ability to export or render to GIF files or image sequence files. The probelm is that they all seem to have their own little quirks when it comes to this action.
Not really sure why this is but it may be that there is a lack of agreement in general on the parameters that are considered acceptable for this type of file.
Anyway here’s how it all goes in PowerDirector.
The Best FREE Plugin for DaVinci Resolve 18 – MrAlexTech’s Magic Animate
This is a totally awesome and potentially free plugin being offered by MrAlexTech.
If you don’t know he is a bit of a DaVinci Resolve guru and has a YouTube Channel with a ton of great video tutorials mostly on Resolve.
He has just created this plugin for DaVinci Resolve that makes a whole bunch of really fiddly features way easier to deal with and it is free.
Just go to this Link Here and you can add the plugin to the Shopping Cart there for $0.00 and get it BUT!
Having said that Alex is asking for donations to a great cause that is close to his heart.
You don’t have to donate, it is entirely up to you.
Ultimate Editing Workflow Guide for Resolve 18 – Edit Faster
OK, so truth be told I use DaVinci for a number of tasks within the workflow of most of the videos I create.
That is restricted mainly to to the initial cutting of all my source assets down to a usable file.
From there I tend to go to a far simpler editing program to complete the project.
The reason I do this is because DaVinci is wildly complicated given that it is designed to be dealing with Hollywood blockbusters so has to be able to operate at that level.
For people like me it is not like taking a gun to a knife fight… it is more like taking a Sherman Tank!
That unneeded complexity ends up slowing me down dramatically whereas a simple drag and drop interface is generally enough to get me there on time.
However that’s just me being lazy!
The real deal is for you to keep using Resolve and learning to the point of being able to do everything it can do.
Don’t be like me!
The Most Important Part of Filmmaking
This is an interesting and thoughtful take on the path one young video creator has taken over the years and where he finds himself now.
It is not a tutorial or roadmap for someone else to follow but more a series of observations about the process.
I think it is up to you and me to work out our own path but I also think it is valuable to listen to someone else’s.
