Why Your Voice Sounds Bad and How to Fix It
One of the first problems just about anyone has when they get in front of the camera is trying to appear relaxed and natural.
There are exercises you can engage in to address this but essentially they all boil down to just practicing until that strange fear of the camera eventually subsides.
The one thing that is probably hardest to deal with is the sound of you own voice.
You have to keep in mind that you have spent a lifetime hearing your own voice partially through your ears but predominantly through your own head!
The result of that is that you have an unnatural opinion of what you voice actually sounds like to others.
So when you hear yourself recorded for the first time it can be a bit… jarring!
The second problem is that when talking to the camera it is an entirely unnatural situation because let’s face it, you are talking to an object and in polite company, talking to objects is a bit of a red flag!
So in this video Kevin gives some great tips on getting your delivery to the camera on point and retaining your natural voice.
OpenAI FM New AI Voices: Humans Obsolete?
This is a new kid on the block from the people at OpenAI introducing a more advanced text to speech model.
The main difference with this one is that it can accept very detailed prompts in order to guide the model on exactly how the words should be spoken.
One of the main problems with AI voices at the moment is that they still sound like AI and even the really good ones can be spotted as such.
With this new model you can very finely tune the tone and delivery of the voice to get it very close to sounding human.
Check it out in the video below and you can take it for a spin yourself at OpenAI.fm.
6 Free Video Editing Effects I Use in Every Project! – Movavi Tutorial for Beginners
These are some handy tips for lifting your edits to a higher level from the guys at Movavi.
The best part of this video is that the tips they are presenting are part of the basic features of Movavi and to be honest, are features most video editing software has.
On top of that they give some great advice about when, where and most importantly why each one should or could be used in a project.
4 Simple Ways To Rotate & Flip Videos – PowerDirector
Obviously within PowerDirector you can rotate or flip videos just like any other video editing software that is half decent.
However within that capability in PowerDirector there are a bunch of other settings and controls you can use to tailor shots to act or behave just how you want.
In this video Maleik runs through that section of the program including all of the more advanced features you have access to.
Intro to Smart Short Clips in Filmora 14 – YouTube
This is one of the more recent A.I additions to Filmora since the release of Filmora 14.
Basically this module takes long form content and runs it through an A.I. analysis for context and understanding.
Once it believes it understands the content it then breaks that content into smaller chunks so that it can be used for short form content like TikTok, Reels and Shorts.
You can see how the whole thing works in the video below and it even transcribes any dialogue placing text onscreen as well.
In my experience it tends to work either very well or very badly!
If it works then out of a ten minute video I can get up to four or five good Reels or Shorts out of it which require no further processing and can be uploaded straight away.
If it doesn’t work well there is absolutely no middle ground!
The results will be absolute rubbish but given it takes no effort on my part, that’s no big deal.
How To Make Money As A Content Creator In 2025 (Step By Step Guide)
In all honesty this is a pretty shameless exercise in self-promotion on the part of Content Creators but I think it’s OK.
Although they are essentially pitching their courses, along the way they are providing a very thorough overview of what it really means to become a content creator.
On top of that, and this is the key value, they provide a realistic view of just how proficient you have to be to get going.
A lot of people (my wife included!) become easily fixated on the technical quality of their videos.
They end up so involved in trying to achieve some kind of technical perfection that they never really get into the creation part.
Anyway some good balanced viewpoints here.
How I Get Perfect Audio in DaVinci Resolve 19 – Fairlight Audio Editing Tutorial
Inside even the free version of DaVinci Resolve lies the Fairlight module which is a fully professional DAW or Digital Audio Workstation.
There is enormous power inside that feature but like all things DaVinci you have to have a reasonable understanding of how it all works to take advantage of that power.
Personally I have only scratched the surface of what can be done with it but even so it is my go to tool for handling audio in all of my videos.
In the video below Jason walks through an entire project cleaning up the audio and getting it ready for release.
It’s well worth taking the time to follow along.
Create Custom Animated Circles & Arrows! – DaVinci Resolve
This is a very basic tutorial in the Fusion Page of DaVinci Resolve and before you all run away… relax! Your tutor today is Daniel Batal so he is going to explain every step very carefully and very slowly.
