All things video for the enthusiastic amateur...

The Friday Roundup – The Complete Filmora 14 Update Rundown

Filmora 14 updates list

Everything New in the Filmora 14 Update

So the big news for last week was that Wondershare have updated Filmora to version 14 with a bunch of new features.

As has been their habit over the past year or so they have been integrating more A.I. features into the program.

These basically fall into two categories which are A.I. “assists” to new or existing features and complete standalone A.I. features.

There are also some other non-A.I. features added and to be honest there’s a lot to cover.

Given the fact that I suffer from chronic laziness, listing out all the new stuff sounds suspiciously like hard work to me so…

Filmora has released four videos covering everything that has been added or enhanced in the new version.

You can check it all out below.

How to Revert to Old Filmora Version for Free

With the release of Filmora 14 most user will now start to get prompts to upgrade or update to the latest version.

For those on subscription plans this is fine but if you are on a yearly plan or have purchased the standalone version you may want to keep this video below bookmarked.

Some people may not feel the upgrade is worth it to them or they just don’t like the newer version.

If you have already updated then you will need to know how to rollback to the previous one you had so here’s how you can do that!

Using Enhanced Speed Controls in PowerDirector 365

The latest update of PowerDirector 365 has (FINALLY!) added customizable speed controls.

Now the reason I said “finally” there is because many other editing packages have had that feature for a while now so this is one of the few times PowerDirector has played catch up rather than setting the pace!

Variable speed has always been available in PowerDirector using keyframes but like all keyframing work, it’s as fiddly as all get out!

In this new module you can enter a custom speed variation throughout a clip or use one of the presets available.

Bear in mind this isn’t doing anything groundbreaking.

All that happening is that you are being given a more user friendly interface module that adds the keyframes for you.

How to Write a YouTube Script for a Viral Video Using AI

One mistake I feel people are making with A.I. generated content is that they are approaching A.I. as something that will replace the need to create for themselves.

To me that is wasting the real value in A.I. services because ultimately humans can detect A.I. and as such will not engage with it.

I am sure you have come across videos on YouTube that you know the voice, the content or even the video itself has been A.I. generated and you have somehow “disconnected” from it almost immediately.

Humans don’t want to go on social media platforms to interact with machine learning models!

To me the real value of A.I. is having it do the heavy lifting for research and data based tasks.

For example I will useA.I. to generate article ideas and then article outlines because it is good at that.

I will even use it to draft the actual article but that’s where it ends.

From that point forward I step in and rewrite the entire thing because I am a human talking to other humans!

Smart Render Corel VideoStudio

Although this is a quick video showing settings in Corel VideoStudio they are things you should be aware of in any editor you are using.

High definition video especially up to 4K is incredibly demanding on computer resources and when you start to add effects or adjustments on top of just cuts, things can go out of control pretty fast.

I have a pretty beefy computer that I use for editing my 4k footage and even though generally it can cope quite well, I still adjust my settings to make sure it never gets stressed.
