How to Grow on YouTube in 2024 – For Real This Time!

There are a lot of tips and tricks on how to get your videos seen on YouTube, possibly go viral and build a channel.

The reality is that most of those tips and tricks you see promoted by various people do come into play and can have an effect.

However the point that is often ignored or missed is that not all of them carry the same weight with the search algorithm and none of them alone will guarantee success.

A great example of this is your subscriber count.

You will see endless videos offering ways to build your subscriber count fast to high numbers and to be honest a lot of them work.

The problem is that when the person gets a higher subscriber count their videos don’t really take off like they thought they would.

So what’s the problem here?

Well, yes the subscriber count “helps” but if you have 2000 subscribers and your new video only has 20 views then the algorithm knows that doesn’t add up!

So effectively you really have gone nowhere.

Check the video below for a more balanced and nuanced look at what is important on YouTube.

Filmora 13 is Freezing and How to Fix It

I have to be honest here I have never had Filmora freeze on me so this video took me a little by surprise.

However that may be because when I use Filmora the type of project I usually do is fairly simple so they are probably not hitting the computer too hard.

Whenever anything like this happens I always refer to my page on fixing computer freezes and crashes when video editing.

Remember that with the introduction of all sorts of A.I. driven features and advanced image manipulation there is a lot of demand being placed on your RAM, CPU and GPU, so with a complex project you may get freezes.

Looking at the video below from Jacky that’s pretty much the route I would take if it happened to me regardless of what software I am using.

Making Your Own Anime Food Video with AI Animation – PowerDirector

This is a practical demo of the A.I. image and animation module in CyberLink PowerDirector.

The first part of the video shows the process using the PowerDirector App on a phone then moves to the PC version about halfway through.

I have used the feature a fews time for effect and it’s pretty cool!

Mix and Match Templates with the PowerDirector Slideshow Creator

I am not a big user of the slideshow creator in PowerDirector and if I am being honest I don’t use them in any video editing software!

I do know that a lot of people still like to make slideshow presentations so this one is for them.

The slideshow creator in PowerDirector is like most features of that program in that you can start a project from scratch or deploy a preset template and work with that.

What a lot of people are not aware of is that you can “mix’n’match” templates with others to spice up the presentation a little.

In the video below you can leant how to do that.

How To Make A Podcast With Descript – Ultimate Beginner’s Guide

For some time now I have been using a product called Descript which was one of the original text based video editing solutions.

The way it worked was that you upload a video (or Audio) and the program transcribed the dialogue immediately.

Once you had the transcript you then used that transcript to edit the video.

Instead of cutting footage you were effectively editing a text file and the changes you made to the text were applied to the video.

Since that time the program has been developed to add more and more features so at this point it’s a little hard to describe everything it can do!

In the video below there is a full walkthrough of using Descript for creating a Podcast and it gives a great overview of what you can do with it.

10 Powerful Tips Every Audacity User Should Know

I use a couple of different video editing software programs depending on the type of action I am executing or the type of project I am working on.

One of the programs I use is DaVinci Resolve and it has the Fairlight page which is a pro level audio editing workspace.

However despite that, I still use Audacity for most of my audio work and especially for cleaning up spoken voice tracks.

For me it is still the easiest to use to get quick effective results.

Recently Audacity was updated with a bunch of new features including “real time” effects for the Compressor and Limiter.

So here are some tips for using Audacity you may now have been aware of.

DaVinci Resolve 19 Official Release Hidden Gems

It has been a few weeks since the full release of DaVinci Resolve 19 out into the wild.

Last week Jason Yadlovski did a complete walkthrough page by page of most of the new features that would apply to actually using the program.

Of course there were other updates for the “behind the scenes” stuff but that’s nowhere as interesting as playing with new toys!

How Professional Hollywood Editors Cut Their Music (TUTORIAL)

Some people say that the audio of a project represents 50% of the editing whilst I think that most would concede it is probably more.

There is no denying that one of the most powerful ways in which you can manipulate audience perception of and reaction to a video is though music.

In its most simple form a quiet, mood appropriate background music track can enhance the viewing experience even if the viewer isn’t really aware of it.

On the other end of the scale we have the sweeping soundscapes of a Hollywood blockbuster driving us along with the action.

It doesn’t really matter where you or your projects lie along that gradient, understanding and using audio is a great tool to learn and get better at.
